If you aren't sure, one of our volunteer coordinators would be pleased to help you identify a rewarding opportunity for you. All volunteers must complete a criminal record check.

EFry is seeking persons who are passionate about our mission and values to join our board.
Our board members direct and lead in our Vision, Mission and Values, and work effectively with the Executive Director in carrying out service for our clients. The board provides mission-based leadership and strategic insight. While the day-to-day operations are led by the executive director, the board to Executive director relationship is a partnership and the appropriate involvement of the board is both critical and expected.
We are calling for persons who:
- have an understanding of the community and its needs, the importance of women only services
- are willing to commit time for Board meetings, committee meetings, planning sessions, and special events
- listen well, and are thoughtful in considering issues
- have experience in any industry (corporate or non-profit)
Volunteers needed for Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays. Working with women providing friendship, support, and referral to community resources. Minimum 3 hours a week needed.
Women Visiting Women (Maple Ridge)
We are looking for volunteers to visit with women who are serving their time in a medium security institution. Volunteers run a card making group on Saturday afternoons. Our programs help the women maintain meaningful connections with their families.
New Westminster Drop-in Centre
Our Women's drop-in centre in New Westminster is looking for volunteers able to work 2-3 hours per week for a one-year minimum term.
Storybook Recorders (Surrey, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford)
Calling all story lovers! EFry is looking for volunteers to record parents who are serving time in a provincial institution (jail) read books to their children as part of our Storybook program. Suitable candidates will have basic computer skills, and their own transportation.
Downtown Community Court
We need volunteers to be courtroom attendants / runners while trials are going on. They assist clients who are going through the court, as well as the judge, prosecutor and defense.
Burnaby Youth Custody
Visit with our young men and women who are currently serving time in custody. Volunteers lead a variety of activities, as well as tutor and mentor the youth. It is recommended that volunteers have their own transportation.
